SIAC Football : Tuskegee downs CAU in double overtime thriller

Over 7,000 spectators filled Clark Atlanta's Panther Stadium to see Tuskegee vs Clark Atlanta. CAU head coach Willie Slater spent over 15 years at Tuskegee before taking the helm at CAU in the offseason.off-season. The contest had various lead changes with Clark Atlanta giving up a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter to lose in double overtime 43-45.

Tuskegee marched 63 yards in 7 plays on the opening possession for the game first score. A 10 yard run by Malik Davis gave Tuskegee a 7-0 lead. CAU struck back with 29 yard field goal by Claudio Quintan to bring the score to 7-3. Tuskegee then went on a 9 play 86 yard drive that ended with a field goal by Andre Howard. The first Quarter ended with Tuskegee leading 10-3.

The 2nd quarter saw both teams go on long scoring drives, CAU's scoring drive of 75 yards lead to a 8 yard pass from quarterback Shariff Brown to Joesph Little. Tuskegee struck back with 13 play 77 yard drive that lead to a field goal by Arnes Huskic. Tuskegee took the lead going to halftime 13-9.

The 3rd quarter saw CAU pull out to a 10 point lead (23-13) after a touchdown pass by Shariff Brown and another field goal. Tuskegee rallied to bring the deficit to 3 points (23-20) after a 29 yard touchdown run by running back Taurean Taylor.

The 4th quarter again saw CAU pull out to a 10 point lead (30-20) with Tuskegee closing the gap to 3 points (30-27) and eventually tying the score 30-30 to set up overtime.

Both teams hit paydirt in the first overtime CAU with an 18 yard run & Tuskegee with a 23 yard pass. The 2nd overtime forced teams to go for a two point conversation and that was the difference in the game. Tuskegee's Malik Davis hit his third TD pass of the game. While CAU's Sherriff Brown ran for his 3rd TD of the game. However CAU could not complete the 2 point conversion & Tuskegee squeaked out a 45-43 double overtime victory.
