Savannah State grinded out a 15-3 win over Morehouse on Saturday in a SIAC match up. Morehouse came into the game looking for their first win of the season while Savannah State was looking to get to .500 on the season. The game ended with Morehouse staying winless at 0-4 and Savannah State improving to 2-2.
The first quarter went scoreless. Morehouse got their only score of the game in the 2nd quarter. A 7 play 37 yard drive ended up with a 25 yard field goal by Olubade Baker. Savannah State took a 7-3 lead into halftime after a 38 yard touchdown run by quarterback Jadon Adams.
Savannah State pulled away in the 3rd quarter with a 10 play 71 yard drive capped with a 20 yard touchdown pass from Jadon Adams to Brent Carr. Savannah State took a 13-3 lead into the 4th quarter, A safety in the 4th quarter by Savannah State grew the lead to 15-3 and that's how the game ended.
Statistically Savannah State outgained Morehouse 296 to 128 and held them below 100 yards in rushing and receiving. Savannah State quarterback Jadon Adams completed 9-12 passes for 152 yards along with 16 carries for 81 yards. Savannah State running back Shamarcus Poole had 14 carries for 57 yards. Wide receiver Da‘Shun Mitchell led all receivers with 5 catches for 78 yards. Caleb Grant from Morehouse had a game high 9 tackles.
