Fort Valley State exploded in the 2nd half to beat Clark Atlanta 40-17. Fort Valley started slow with only a field goal in the first quarter. Clark Atlanta did score 10 points in the 2nd quarter with a 2 yard touchdown run by Daquan Kincey , and 23 yard field goal by Fernando Lobo. FVSU tied the score at 10 heading into halftime with a 20 yard pass from Kelvin Durham to Fralon Warren.
FVSU dominated the 3rd quarter scoring two touchdowns and registering a safety to take a 26-10 lead into the 4th quarter. Kentrelle Williams scored on a 27 yard TD run. Fort Valley quarterback Kelvin Durham tossed his 2nd TD pass this time to Dejuan Bell. The safety occurred after a CAU miscue while punting from deep in their own territory.
The 4th quarter saw more of the same with FVSU extending their lead to 40-10. Kentrelle Williams scored his 2nd TD of game on a 11 yard TD run. Brandon Marshall from FVSU also scored on a 30 yard TD run. Daquan Kincey from CAU scored late to make the final score 40-17.
Statistically Fort Valley featured a balanced attack with 198 yards through the air and 158 yards on the ground. Fort Valley QB Kelvin Durham finished 18-26 for 198 yards and two touchdowns. Fort Valley running backs Kentrelle Williams and Brandon Marshall finished with 77 and 92 yards respectively. Clark Atlanta's Devion Newson led all receivers with 5 catches for 105 yards.
