Head coach Teddy Keaton led the Clark Atlanta Panthers past his former Allen University Yellow Jackets team 26-22 on Saturday in Atlanta. Freshman running back Trayvon Pinder led Clark Atlanta with 64 yards. CAU WR Armone Harris tallied 80 yards on six catches, and the game-winning touchdown with 43 seconds left to play.
The teams fought a fairly close battle in the first half. Allen scored on the games first drive with a 48 yard touchdown pass from QB Jamir Dismukes to Kaleb Cunningham. Trailing 6-0 Clark Atlanta then got two field goals from kicker Leonar Cabrera. Cabrera kicked field goals of 36 & 46 yards in the first quarter. The teams tied 6-6 ending the first quarter.
The 2nd quarter saw two more field goals from CAU kicker Canbrera. The kicker nailed field goals of 29 & 39 yards to give CAU a 12-6 lead at halftime.
The 3rd quarter saw Clark Atlanta extend their lead to 13 points. A twelve play 57 yard drive gave CAU a 19-6 lead in the 3rd quarter. Allen responded with 10 unanswered points to quickly close the gap to 19-15. With 3 minutes left in the game Allen took the lead 22-19 on a ten play 80 yard drive capped by a Nanders Lawrence 24 yard touchdown reception with 3:03 remaining.
Clark Atlanta would go on a 65 yard drive in the games closing minutes to get a come from behind win. CAU's Armone Harris snatched a 7 yard touchdown reception with 43 seconds left to give CAU a 26-22 victory.
