Clark Atlanta notched a 21-12 victory against Savannah State on Saturday. The win pushed CAU to 3-3 in the conference. Savannah State fell to 2-3 in the conference. Thousands of fans packed Clark Atlanta University for homecoming weekend.
The first quarter went scoreless for both teams,. CAU struck first in the 2nd quarter with 46 yard drive capped by a 2 yard touchdown run by quarterback Sheriff Brown. Later in the 2nd quarter running back Daqoun Kincey broke for a 61 yard touchdown for the CAU. The 1st half ended with CAU on top 14-0.
Savannah State was the only team to score in the 3rd quarter. A 34 yard pass from JT. Hartage to wide receiver Holbert got Savannah State to within a touchdown at 14-6.
The 4th quarter saw CAU pull away after a 12 play 78 yard drive that took up over 7 minutes of the 4th quarter. The drive capped by a Sheriff Brown touchdown passed put CAU on top 21-6. Savannah State would manage one more score to close the gap to 21-12, however that would be the final score as CAU got a 21-12 homecoming win.
Statistically Clark Atlanta was led by running back Daquon Kincey who racked up 25 carries for 188 yards. Tavares Brewton from Savannah State led all defenders with nine total tackles. D'Shun Mitchell from Savannah State led all receivers with 6 receptions for 78 yards.
