The Benedict Tigers had a strong defensive effort to hold the Morehouse College to negative 28 yards rushing and took a 21-5 victory in a SIAC football contest on Saturday from B.T. Harvey Stadium. The loss puts Morehouse at 1-4 while Benedict goes to 2-2 overall.
Benedict only led 7-3 at halftime after Damidn Mozte 5 yard touchdown run just before the 2nd quarter ended. The third quarter saw Morehouse register a saftey. However Benedict hit paydirt with 9 play 64 yard drive capped with a Charles Simmons to Malik Mullins touchdown pass. Benedict led 14-5 heading into the 4th quarter.
Benedict pulled ahead 21-5 in the 4th quarter after another Charles Simmons touchdown pass. The 21-5 score would end up being the difference in the game. Benedict out gained Morehouse 221 yards to 98 yards.
Benedict faces North Greenville next Saturday. Morehouse faces Tuskegee in Morehouse-Tuskegee Classic on Saturday.
