Benedict College improved to 8-0 with 35-0 won over Morehouse on Saturday. Morehouse celebrating their homecoming fell to 0-8 on the season. Benedict dominated from start to finish holding Morehouse to under 100 yards rushing and receiving whlie gaining over 300 yards total offenses themselves. With the win Benedict sits in the drivers seat for a SIAC championship game berth and Division 2 playoff appearance.
Morehouse went three and out on the games first possession. Benedict hit paydirt on their ensuing drive with 50 yard drive capped by a 3 yard touchdown run by Jaylen Taylor for a 7-0 lead. Benedict ended the first half with a 10 play 80 yard drive and a 5 yard touchdown run by DeAndre Duehart. Benedict lead 14-0 at halftime.
With Morehouse homecoming halftime festivities still going on Benedict opened the 2nd half with a 90 yard kick return by Tayven Grice and a 21-0 lead. An ensuing 12 play 51 yard drive took Benedict to a 28-0 lead into three 4th quarter. Benedict would manage another touchdown in the 4th to make the final score 35-0.
Statistically Benedict quarterback John Lampley finished 12-15 for 119 yards. Benedict Running back Jaylen Taylor led all runners with 10 carries for 59 yards. Dea'Mon Cherry from Benedict led all receivers with 4 receptions for 61 yards. Dedric Stokes from Benedict lead all defenders with 11 total tackles.
