Benedict College dominated Tuskegee 58-21 to claim the schools first SIAC Championship. Benedict capped a perfect 11-0 regular season with a conference title. Along with title Benedict earned a number one playoff seed, first round bye and homefield advantage throughout the Division 2 playoffs. Head Coach Chennis Berry also earned SIAC Coach Of The Year honors. This is the schools very first conference championship.
Benedict started dominated early jumping out to a 21-7 first quarter lead after two offensive touchdowns and fumble scoop and score by the defense. The second quarter again saw Benedict outscore Tuskegee 21-7 to take a commanding 42-14 lead into halftime. Two touchdown passes by quarterback Eric Phoenix and touchdown run by running back Noah Scotland put Benedict in the driver's seat at halftime.
The third quarter saw more of the same as Benedict grew their lead to 55-14 after two more short touchdown runs. The 4th quarter saw a field goal by Benedict and touchdown by Tuskegee to make the final score 58-21.
From a statistical standpoint Benedict dominated in every aspect. Benedict outgained Tuskegee 573 to 242 while gaining over 200 yards rushing and receiving. Benedict had 31 total first downs to Tuskegee's 10. Benedict Quarterback Eric Phoenix passed for over 300 yards and ran for over 100 yards while accounting for 3 touchdowns.
