Benedict College men claimed their 4th straight SIAC Track and field Championship over the weekend.
Albany State claimed the SIAC championship on the women’s side finishing 37 points ahead of 2nd place Benedict.
Benedicts title run was led by first and second finshes in the 400-meter dash by Javel Best in 47.63, and Jesaiah Jones with a time of 47.86. Benedicts 4×400 meter relay nabbed a gold with a time of 3:10.73.
Sadiki Marsh won the gold medal in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.71. Kevin Francis was second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.97. Frank Hyland Jr. finished second in the javelin with a throw of 50.25 meters (164 feet, 10 inches)
Albany State women were led by Zenay Rhaney who tallied two gold medal finishes Rhaney only a junior won the 1500m (5:04.80) and 800m (2:23.74).
Albany States 4x100m team of Dasia Gilyard, Cadence Cray, Imani Jones, and Jeniya Lawrence recorded a 46.47 finish, while Nathalia Rowe, Gilyard, Cray, and Kennedy Simmons clocked 3:51.42 in the 4x400m. Both Relay teams securing 2nd place finishes.
