Basketball: ATL HBCU Challenge held in Atlanta

Several Hbucs gathered at Morehouse College over the weekend for The ATL HBCU Challenge. Schools from the CIAA, SIAC, MEAC & SWAC were present. The list of schools included Shaw, Lemoyne Owen, Fayetteville State, Livingstone, Albany State, Morehouse, Virginia Union, Norfolk State & Alabama A&M., The CIAA & SIAC schools played two games a piece. Norfolk State and AAMU played on game on Saturday night.

Shaw University competed in the ATL Hbcu Challenge in Atlanta over the weekend. Shaw beat Lemoyne Owen 78-70 on Friday and lost to Tuskegee 65-47 on Saturday. Shaw is 1-4 on season and continues non-conference play on Tuesday night against Morris College.

Norfolk State and Alabama A&M played against each other on Saturday night. The MEAC vs SWAC match up ended with Norfolk State winning 89-83. Norfolk State improved to 4-2 on the season while Alabama A&M fell to 0-4. Both schools resume non-conference play on Wednesday night.

Fayetteville State went 0-2 at the ATL HBCU Challenge. The Broncos fell to Tuskegee 40-43 and lost to Morehouse 54-56 on a last second shot. Fayetteville State fell to 1-4 on the season. Virginia Union went 1-1 at The Challenge beating Albany State and losing to Lemoyne Owen. Union is currently 5-1 on the season. Albany State who is 0-4 on the season dropped two contests to Virginia Union and Lemoyne Owen.

Tuskegee who is 5-0 on the season got two wins at the Challenge defeating Shaw and Fayetteville State. Livingstone College 1-3 on the season had a win verse Albany State and a loss to Morehouse. Host school Morehouse went 2-0 during the weekend defeating Livingstone & Fayetteville State to improve to 3-1 on the season.
