The Southern University women's basketball team topped Alcorn State 64-44 to win the SWAC basketball title. The Lady Jaguars also clinched a NCAA women's tournament birth. Southern finished the season 20-14 overall with a 15-3 record in The SWAC.

With the scored tied 20-20 after one quarter Southern raced out to a 16-4 run to start the 2nd quarter. With a 36-24 halftime time lead Southern would not trail again. Leading 51-36 after 3 quarters Southern would go on to a 64-44 route of Alcorn St.

Southern was led by Tionna Ligdes double double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Dakiyah Sanders & Soniyah Reed also reached double figures with 11 points.
